

1750-1830 - Corn Exchange square had been occupied by a hotel and the exchange itself. The square was one of the business centres of the town and the May Fair and October Fair were held there. These were ‘feeing fairs for hiring farm workers on a six month or year contract.’
1814 - The old Meal Market at the top of King Street was demolished. It was duly replaced by the Corn Exchange which stood opposite the present District Library.
1838 - The coronation of Queen Victoria was celebrated at Stirling where a foundation stone was laid to mark the start of work on the town’s new Corn Exchange. The Corn Exchange Hall was also one of the few halls in Stirling, so it was great venue for dances and civic occasions.
1843 - On 17th June 1843 a crowd of no less than 1500 people gathered in Corn Exchange Hall to hear Cobden and Bright make speeches against the government’s policy of high bread prices.
1913 - Dame Nellie Melba gave a concert at Corn Exchange.
1918 - The Municipal Buildings opened in 1918 on Corn Exchange Road. .
1937 - A Bookshop run by McArees was built in 1937 on 11-13 Corn Exchange Stirling which was later taken over by Stirling Council.
2000 - Stirling Council Resource Centre building on 11-13 Corn Exchange was purchased by Belhaven Pubs. The building was converted into a pub called Pivo.
